gangLion reviewed! kind of...

For our launch party in Montreal, we had a couple of awesome young writers come out from the McGill Daily to do a brief interview and review both the event and the new issue. A daunting task, to be sure, and unfortunately, it does show...

Read the sort of glowing, sort of confused review here.

On the bright side, congrats to Gabby, Nick, and Daniel for grabbing the reviewer's attention! You deserve it! To Jason, who got severely undershot in my opinion, don't sweat it. Not everybody likes what you do, but that doesn't mean nobody likes it!

To the people who gave us the attention, we are truly greatful - maybe next time we'll be less of a mouthful to swallow!

Graphic Novel Book Club!

Before I start talking about Graphic Novels I wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered your time to make the gangLion Tour Launch Party so awesomesauce-y and rock-tastic! We do have a red alert put out for a green square bag. It belongs to a musician of Donlands and Mortimer. If you accidentally took it home or find it please shoot us an email ASAP!

So who loves graphic novels? Well I can definitely say I love them. I am completely sucked in by the Vertigo ones. So lucky for us lovers as gangLion is hosting a bi-weekly Graphic Novel Book Club for us to share, debate, read and chat about all things Graphic Novel.

Interested? Join our Graphic Novel Book Club Facebook group to stay in touch and to learn the dates of our events!

Snowing Snowing Snowing

Finally proof that we are really in that wintery time of the year. The moment where the world of concrete, brick, steel and paint is swept by nature's giant arm turning everything into a blank canvass. Sure the wind chill isn't so hot and you might have melting snow in your boot, or maybe shoveling that excrement left behind by the snow plow left a crick in your back. But really if the idea to paint the city purple crosses your mind today you really should grab that paint bucket. I am sure purple shows up real well on snow.

As we head into the wintery wondery weekend I hope to see you folks at the Toronto Issue 4 kick off Tour at the BOAT, 9pm doors open 10pm show starts!

Who wants a Questionnaire?!

Help us make gangLion better than ever by filling out a gangLion Questionnaire! Today, we sent tiny gangLionlings throughout the "internets" to plant a questionnaire in your email-box. If we happened to miss you please click here to access our web form. Every bit of feedback helps us steer the mighty gangLion. Questions range from asking you for your preferred workshop choice to the personality and characteristics of gangLion!

We welcome any discussions on this blog or through our email. Maybe I can start by asking an additional question: If gangLion was a person and walked into the a community park BBQ how would you describe him or her. And if the first thing that pops into your mind happens to be Georgia please also note the second thing that pops into your mind! Georgia with a lion mane maybe?

Cheers!

Whispers from the lair..

We have been quiet as of late, but only because we have been attending to the storms in our brains while laying out a plan for what might be one of the most exciting events of 2010.

An overstatement? Maybe. Depends what else you get up to this year.

But still... an event worth jotting down in black pen and then brushing over with a flourescent pink highlighter.

In addition to laying out the finishing touches on the THIRD issue before it hits the press, contriving up ideas for the NEXT issue, and being pretty marvelous - We here at gangLion have been planning a stellar tour for the beginning of March!

Look forward to this;
  • the unveiling of our THIRD issue
  • A giant, will-knock-your-socks-off (yes, even your thick wool winter ones) launch party in Toronto
  • workshops and parties in Kingston, Montreal, Ottawa, Oshawa, Guelph, and Waterloo

Tour launches in a month! More details sooner.

Big Love,

gangLion
